I marry cats and dogs

The bride looked beautiful. Eyes bright, glossy hair……wet nose!
Yes, little Scrappy the Jack Russell was in her element.
‘Do you, Scrappy take Scooby, to be your Jack Russell?’ I said
OK, so it wasn’t your standard wedding, but there was one thing that was very real…..
The love between these two Jack Russells! So why not join them in matrimony?
I’d first got the idea after seeing a similar service advertised in a pet shop, on a trip to Liverpool in Feb 2007.
But it wasn’t until we opened our own cattery, last May, and my husband Jack, 43, was building a pagoda in the landscaped grounds that I had a thought….
The pagoda would be perfect for weddings!
Obviously, there were still a few practical considerations…..
The pagoda was only big enough to house certain breeds of animals.

We’d have to limit ourselves to cats, dogs, guinea pigs, and hamsters.
But other than that, there weren’t any restrictions.
So I put together a package - including ceremony, cake and marriage certificates.
Then I aired the idea in my local area.
Soon, we had our first well-groomed bride and groom.
A 12-year-old boy was the owner of pup pair Scrappy and Scooby. Now we’re getting lots of interest.

So much so, we’re thinking of expanding to offer christenings as well.
It’s certainly made folk paws for thought!
